Values and Leadership
TRIP Canada Program Leader Janet McKelvey has been involved in business and philanthropy for more than 30 years, with executive experience at Xerox Canada and Canadian Tire. Throughout her career, Janet participated in numerous learning and employee motivation opportunities. The two weeks she spent in Sri Lanka building homes for tsunami survivors was her most rewarding and motivating personal development experience.
For corporations and organizations focused on values, leadership development and social responsibility, TRIP Canada represents a truly unique opportunity. Participants spend two weeks immersed in the culture of a developing country; living in very basic conditions; and, working with a team of volunteers in an unstructured, ambiguous environment. Each day is challenging, long and hard working alongside locals building houses with the most basic tools.

Corporate Involvement
There are several ways for companies to consider involvement:
- For corporate personal leadership development
for individuals or teams
- Corporate program focused on employee values, loyalty and retention through:
|
| |
- Sponsorship of two-week experience
- Supporting / matching employee fund raising
- Using company time vs. vacation
|
- Sponsorship of volunteers requiring financial assistance – TRIP has a number of interested students and other potential volunteers in need of support
- Donations to purchase land and resources to build homes and other essential community facilities and services
|
